The Biltmore, Wake Forest and Camp Lejuene

Saturday morning was our last day in Asheville. We went to see the Biltmore Estate with my friend Gina and her two boys. The whole thing was beautiful and definitely worth seeing. It would be a great place for a weekend away with no kiddos! The kids did great though, considering we were walking through a house where the couldn't touch anything. The house was built in the late 1800's by the Vanderbilt family. It was amazing how creative they had to get to find uses for all 250 rooms that are in there!

Paul's favorite kind of tree, a weeping blue spruce. It is the largest one we have ever seen!

Halie with Caleb, one of Gina's boys.

We went to visit the original site of the farm on the estate. They had a fenced in yard with barn animals for the kids to pet, they loved it!

Austin found a goat that he really liked!

I think Halie held every chick she possibly could!

After an afternoon at the Biltmore and saying goodbye to Gina, we headed to Wake Forest to visit some friends from our Sunday School class that had recently moved there. We had a very nice visit with them and had our first home cooked meal in over a week! It was wonderful! They kids had a blast playing with their girls and Halie was VERY upset to have to leave them on Sunday morning.

Yesterday afternoon we made it to the Swaim's house in Camp Lejeune, NC. It took about 3 hrs to drive. The Swaims are getting ready to move to Virginia, so it has been a little crazy around here with 6 kids and moving people here! Last evening we took a trip to the pool. The kids loved it. Halie is doing wonderful with her swimming. She was pretty much diving into the pool and swimming to us, about a 1/3 of the way across. She is learning to get her head up to take a breath and then keep swimming. I am so proud of her! Austin is becoming a little water baby, he loves it! To the point now that it is pretty scary, because he just likes to jump in. He is going under water pretty well and not seeming to mind it at all!

Today the packers and movers came to the house. My job was to get the kids out of the house for as long as I possibly could. We took a walk/bike/scooter ride to the park, played and had a breakfast of muffins and grapes. We were gone for about an hour and they were all ready to get back home. So we headed home and filled up the swimming pool. They were all great today despite the fact that they were hot and outside for a majority of the day. They will all sleep well tonight I think! Me too, I'm exhausted.
